US-led coalition admits responsibility for civilian deaths in Syria and Iraq

28.06.2018, Washington.

More than 900 civilians have been killed since 2014 as a result of air strikes conducted by the US-led coalition in Syria and Iraq, the Combined Joint Task Force announced on June 28, RIA Novosti reports

The US and its allies have conducted over 29,500 strikes, which resulted in “unintentional” killings of 939 civilians. During the last month, the number of victims has increased by almost 50 people.

The US and its allies have been repeatedly accused of concealing and minimizing the real casualties among civilians as a result of air strikes. For example, the Airwars, a monitoring group, claims that the US-led coalition strikes killed at least 7 times more civilians since 2014 than indicated in the report, and according to conservative estimates it ranges from 6.2 to 9.5 thousand civilian deaths.
