“This undermines trust in humanism” ― chlorine from Germany found in Ghouta

20.04.2018, Moscow.

Containers with chlorine made in Germany, as well as smoke canisters from Salisbury, were found in the Eastern Ghouta suburb of Damascus, the Spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on April 19, the RIA Novosti Youtube channel reports.

“The Syrian army found containers with chlorine, the most horrible of all chemical weapons, made in Germany, as well as smoke canisters manufactured in Salisbury, UK,” Zakharova said.

“This fact can hardly be even commented, so much it is frightening, and it undermines trust in the humanism of certain states. Of course, we do not mean states on the whole, but we mean those politicians and leaders who make these kinds of orders and decisions,” she stressed.

Recently, two scandals in a row over the alleged use of chemical warfare agents took place. Without providing any evidence, the UK accused Russia of poisoning a former spy, Sergey Skripal, in Salisbury with a chemical agent allegedly made in Russia. Shortly after that, the US, the UK, and France accused the Syrian authorities of using chemical weapons against civilians in Ghouta, and they carried out a massive missile strike against Syrian targets.
