Afrin shelling triggers a new refugee wave

25.01.2018, Afrin.

An increase in the number of refugees from the Afrin district moving towards the city of Aleppo was registered on January 25, a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s source in Syria reports.

The reason for civilians to flee to Aleppo was the artillery shelling by Turkish military forces, during which civilians were killed and wounded.

Turkey’s military aggression against Kurdish groups in the Syrian canton of Afrin, code-named “Operation Olive Branch”, began on January 20. On January 21, despite the condemnation by the Syrian government, the Turkish troops began a ground operation in the city.
