18.09.2017, LPR.

Despite the present ceasefire, three LPR localities were shelled by the Ukrainian army, Lugansk Information Centre reports on September 18, 2017.

The LPR Ministry of Defense reports that the ceasefire was violated five times over the past 24 hours. Zhelobok village and the townships of Donetsky and Frunze were shelled.

“The fire was conducted by 122 mm caliber artillery, 120 mm and 82 mm caliber mortars, and infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs)”, the report states.

The latest truce agreement (so-called school truce) was reached in late August 2017. On August 25 the indefinite school truce was announced.

On August 23, the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in  Donbass signed the document on the school truce in Minsk. According to the document, the Armed Forces of Ukraine on one side, and the armies of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic on the other side, are obliged to cease fire on the demarcation line.

However, despite the reached agreement, the Defense Ministries of both Donbass Republics daily report ceasefire violations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, on September 17, the Lugansk People’s Republic reported 29 ceasefire violations within one day.
