The Ukrainian army intensified the shelling of the settlements of the Donetsk People’s Republic (the DPR) on the Donetsk, Dokuchaevsk, and on the southern parts of the front when celebrating “independence day”, a source in the DPR People’s Militia (the DPR PM) informed a Rossa Primavera News Agency reporter on August 24.
On the Donetsk segment of the contact line, the Ukrainian troops opened fire on the villages of Spartak, Mineralnoye, and on the settlement of Trudovskiye in the Petrovsky district of the capital with 120mm mortars, automatic grenade launchers, and 122mm artillery. The Kiev military was playing the national anthem through the loudspeakers while they were shelling the communities.
The Ukrainian military shelled the DPR area in the area of Elenovka, Dokuchaevsk, and the of Yasnoye south of Donetsk.
On the Mariupol part of the front, one peaceful civilian, a woman, was injured during the shelling of the Lukovo in the Telmanovsky district. One house was totally destroyed, another 6 houses were damaged.
On August 23, the Ukrainian army violated the ceasefire 33 times. The enemy shelled 16 towns and villages of the DPR. The Ukrainian army used artillery, mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, grenade launchers, and small arms.
