Terrorists are holding around 20,000 civilians hostage in Mosul

Around 20,000 civilians are held hostage by jihadists in Mosul`s Old City, stated UN humanitarian coordinator in Iraq Lise Grande, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports on July 6.

“Our estimate at this stage is that in the final pockets of the Old City, there could be as many as 15,000 civilians, possibly even as high as 20,000 ”, Grande said. Iraqi government forces are presently battling to retake Mosul.

UN representative earlier stated that the repairing Mosul`s infrastructure will cost minimum billion dollars after the liberation of the city from terrorists.
