Ukraine is adopting Croatian experience to take back Donbass

“[Our] Officials should use the Croatian experience as example of how control over the disputed territory and peace in society were restored after a bloody [civil] war which was provoked by the regime of Slobodan Milosevic,” said the Ukrainian politician.

Croatia broke away from Yugoslavia in 1991 along with three other republics as a result of an acute political crisis. The secession of Croatia was followed by a military conflict with its own Serbian population. Serbia, which remained a part of Yugoslavia, participated in this conflict on the side of the Serbian population. The Serbs remembered the genocide committed by the Croatian Ustaše [Croatian fascist movement which ruled the Independent State of Croatia during WWII – Edtior] against the Serbian population during the WWII. They understood that after breaking away from Yugoslavia, they will be left alone facing the Croatian nationalists without protection. The Republic of Serbian Krajina (RSK) was proclaimed on the territory of Croatia. The Republic existed until 1995 when most of its land was occupied by the Croatian military during Operations “Flash” and “Storm”. The rest of RSK was annexed by Croatia in 1998.

President Maduro: Venezuela’s rules, Constitution, and problems are not the US’ business

Putin’s phone-in is an attempt to reach the people over the head of the elite

According to the leader of the movement, Vladimir Putin, even after many years in power, remains a “living person” who is “neither haughty nor technocratic” in his attitude to the problems of “a financially struggling or a completely impoverished person”. In contrast, the system he is trying to deal with is absolutely different; it is dominated by “ruthless cold-eyed people, haughty and technocratic at the same time”.

“This gives rise to a natural conflict, and we see it all the time, between Putin and the system. But the system does not exist on its own; it was fostered by a certain political class, and it exists inside that class. When we ask, ‘where is the money?’ the answer is, the money is with the crocodile who ate it. Where else could it be? And all the time Putin deals with this class… how can you say… as with a bad wife, whom he tolerates, educates, scolds…,” the leader of Essence of Time stressed.

Sergey Kurginyan said that the relations between the elite and the President are characterized by mutual patience. “The question is whose patience runs out first. And I think it will be the elite’s,” the leader of Essence of Time said.
