Ukraine will invent its own Cosmonautics Day

In his speech at the cabinet meeting, Kirilenko stated,”We must appeal to the president of Ukraine, that he issue an executive order moving it to a different date, just as he did by moving the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland from February 23 to October 14*, thus creating the Day of the Defender of Ukraine. This is a proper and fundamental process.”
According to Kirilenko, this new date should, “change the worldview on what Ukrainians have accomplished” in the recent history.

During the flight, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin spent about two hours in near-earth space.
