There are two strategies to resolve the conflict in Donbass – direct invasion of [Russian troops] or support of those, who love us [Russia] and are ready to fight for their freedom, Essence of Time movement leader Sergey Kurginyan stated during the show “First Studio” on Russian Channel One on February 15th.
Russia chose the second strategy, Sergey Kurginyan stressed. It started to support that part of the Ukrainian people, who are friendly towards Russia and who want to fight for their freedom.
“We supported these people. These people have two military corps, which are their own and which have nothing to do with us [Russia]. This people is quite capable now of stopping and containing the enemy. But if this fraternal people would be subjected to genocide, I can assure you, [we] will interfere,” the Essence of Time movement leader stated.
After explaining the reasons for the rebellion of the people of Ukraine in Donbass, the political scientist stressed that Russia has helped Donbass within the framework of international law.
“We supported this [rebellion] as is our duty to support this fraternal people. It was our duty to provide diplomatic, information support, etc., and the civil society in Russia assisted as it must. The Bandera Nazi junta has a snowball’s chance in hell of doing anything there [in Donbass]!” Sergey Kurginyan said.
Recall that, in February, 2015, Russia participated in agreeing of the Package of Measures for the Implemention of the Minsk Agreements, which calls for a full ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy artillery from the contact line, the withdrawal of foreign armed groups, maintaining security for Donbass residents, as well as the reestablishment of the social assistance in southeastern Ukraine. In doing so, Russia promoted a political settlement of the conflict. The representatives of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and the Ukrainian side agreed on this Package of Measures. Furthermore, the leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany endorsed it.
