DPR residents officially adopted almost 90 orphans since July 2015

The residents of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) officially adopted 88 orphans since July 2015, the State Office of Family and Children Affair of the Republic informed Donetsk News Agency on November 5, 2016.

20 children were adopted in the past 2 months. The Head of the State Office on Family and Children Affairs Svetlana Mayboroda had earlier said that over 3000 orphans live in DPR. Most of them live under guardianship and custody in families.

The State Office on Family and Children was established by the decision of the Head of Donetsk People’s Republic on December 9th, 2014. The Office is responsible for the implementation of the public policy concerning the family and children rights, protection of the rights, freedoms and legal interests of children, social support of children, motherhood, and childhood. The first adoption in the history of Donetsk People’s Republic is dated July 19th, 2015.
