09.05.2016, Donetsk.
Our most important holiday has come – the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War! 71 year ago the Soviet soldier defeated the Nazi German beast in its lair and put the Red Banner of Victory over Reichstag. Fascism, which desired to enslave all humanity and turn the wheel of History backwards, was defeated. “Blue-eyed Aryans” were utterly crushed by ordinary Soviet peasants and workers.
Such as Ivan Filippovich Tkachenko, a memorial to whom is standing on the street that bears his name in Leninsky district of Donetsk. The monument is near the Donetsk Metallurgic Plant, from which the young electrical fitter went to war. Guards* lieutenant Tkachenko was a reconnaissance fighter, adjusted the fire of our artillery. He was a brave commander and multiple times inspired the soldiers to attack under heavy enemy fire. He went on recon missions behind enemy lines and once he even had to call friendly artillery fire upon himself. He fought from the first day of war and he lived less than a month less to see the Victory – he died on April 12, 1945, in East Prussia. On April 19, 1945, for heroism and valor Ivan Filippovich was awarded the title of a Hero of the Soviet Union.
* (“Guards” does not refer to service away from the frontline, it is an elite status of Soviet frontline units, earned by distinguished performance the unit showed in combat – Editor)
Today the members of “Essence of Time” mission in Donbass laid flowers to the monument of the Hero. We remember the great deed of our ancestors and believe that only the understanding of uninterrupted link of generations gives us chance for victory. Metallurgists and miners, who took up arms, continuing the cause of electrical fitter Ivan Tkachenko, will certainly defeat modern fascism!
Congratulations, comrades! Congratulations with Victory Day!
