In Artyomovsk, Security Service of Ukraine (SSU, Ukrainian: SBU) illegally arrests civilians and forces them to give false testimonies by intimidation and blackmail, Deputy Defense Minister of Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Eduard Basurin said during his briefing on January 30th, Donetsk News Agency reports.

According to those released from Ukrainian captivity, the officers of SBU and other structures force the civilians to speak by using prohibited methods. For example, the officers stage the execution of people, after which these frightened citizens agree to give out the “wanted” information and to sign any documents. Often, the officers of SBU force the civilians to slander their own relatives which later causes the suffering of the whole family.

Also, the locals confirm DPR intelligence information concerning the illegal mass detentions of groups of 30 people each. The officers of Kiev junta’s securities service prosecute the detainees using the prohibited methods of inquiry.

Those who are trying to release the detainees are under special surveillance, and if it is necessary they are also arrested,” Eduard Basurin said.

On January 28th, the special operations forces “Bars” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine detained the peaceful dissidents in areas close to Artyomovsk.

In December 2015, the Security Service of Ukraine arrested 85 residents of Donbass territories, which are occupied by Kiev junta’s troops, as a result of the search of adherents of Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. The detainees were released after a protest of DPR authorities, who indicated to serious violations of international law.
