The device that exploded on “Torez” proving ground of September 24 was placed in the fighting compartment of the “Strela” surface-to-air missile system, the Donetsk People’s Republic Deputy Prosecutor General Vasily Bayrachny said during the briefing in Donetsk News Agency press-room.
According to him, those guilty of the crime used a “shell-less explosive device, the kind and type of the explosives is being specified.” The explosive device is being estimated to be an equivalent of 200 grams of TNT. Pictures of both the exterior and interior of the destroyed “Strela” system from the site were shown to the journalists (pictures available in the source material below – Editor).
A nine-year-old girl was killed in the explosion, a seven-year-old child was heavily injured and hospitalized. Another two people were injured as well. The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic declared September 26 a day of mourning.
A criminal investigation under the third, “severest” part of Article 229 (“Terrorism act”) of DPR Criminal Code was launched.
