The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović noted the lack of progress in the investigations of murders and attacks on media workers in Ukraine.
“Mijatović expressed concern regarding the stagnation in investigation of at least nine murders and numerous assaults on the media workers since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine,” the statement reads.
Dunja Mijatović also sent a letter to Pavel Klimkin, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“I urge the authorities to intensify investigations into the attacks on journalists and to bring those responsible to justice,” said Mijatović in her letter.
“The solution to the problem of impunity is a necessary step to increase the safety of journalists and to promote the culture of understanding and respect to the important part the journalists play in a democratic society,” Mijatović’s message to the head of Ukraine Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.
