Donetsk water park open to public after a year of shut down

“Aquasferra” water park has opened yesterday after being shut down for over a year due to the war in Donbass. All municipal services were working for several days straight in order for it to be ready to open its doors by the holidays (August 30 – Miner’s Day and City Day), according to First Deputy head of city administration Igor Ponomarenko.

We worked hard in the past three days to check all systems, prepare the water. The work went on for 24 hours straight, manually checked every pump, every water slide, every pool. The water park is ready to accept visitors.

First Deputy head of city administration has invited everyone to celebrate City Day by visiting the water park if they desire so. “It was built for Donetsk residents, after all,” he noted.

The water park administration has noted that the facility is ready to accept 1,5 thousand people every day. The price of a visit will be lower than before last year’s shut down. The price is now 130 hryvnas for an adult and 70 hryvnas for a child. In the pre-war time the price of a ticket for an adult was 180 hryvnas, 125 hryvnas for children, the water park administration reminded.

The first visitors have come in large companies, many visitors have brought small children with them.

“Aquasferra” water park was open one and a half years before the war in Donbass started – in December 2012. It was created to operate both in winter and summer. There are 6 water slides and a children’s zone in the building. It is situated in Sherbakova park of Donetsk. The water park administration has decided to shut it down on July 2, 2014 for security reasons due to the war in DPR.
