Four servicemen of the DPR army were killed as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian army, the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) directorate informed on June 21.
According to the DPR People’s Militia, at 10 a.m., the Ukrainian army shelled the DPR positions near Lozovoye village using mortars. As a result, three DPR servicemen were killed, and one was seriously wounded.
An evacuation team in an ambulance drove to the scene of the shelling to pick up the wounded and bodies of the dead. The enemy opened fire on the ambulance from an anti-tank grenade launcher. According to the DPR People’s Militia, the fire came from the side of the Ukrainian army’s positions in Krasnogorovka. As a result, another DPR serviceman was killed, and four were wounded.
“The particular cynicism of this crime lies in the fact that the fire on the ambulance, which had medical identification signs on it, was targeted,” the People’s Militia said, noting that the Ukrainian side was warned about the time and route of the ambulance.
The DPR People’s Militia did not rule out that the provocation was deliberately arranged in order to provoke return fire from the DPR for “subsequent accusations of violating the Minsk agreements and intensifying combat operations.”
At the same time, the DPR People’s Militia called today’s shelling an “act of terrorism,” which “is clear evidence of Ukraine’s disinterest in resolving the conflict peacefully and its absolute unwillingness to comply with the Minsk agreements.”
