The Ukrainian military violated the ceasefire twice on the contact line in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) over a day, a DPR representative informed on October 13.

The representative informed that on October 12, the Ukrainian military fired 10 82mm mortar shells from the positions of the 54th Ukrainian army’s brigade in Avdeevka on the area of Yakovlevka villages.

The observers registered that at 12.22 pm (Moscow time zone) the Ukrainian troops fired three mortar shells on the maintenance team, which was restoring the railway tracks under the Ukrainian side’s security guarantees. At 5.10 pm (Moscow time zone), the Ukrainian troops repeated fire and fired seven mortar shells.

At 4.25 pm (Moscow time zone), observers registered the construction of new fortifications near Peski village at the positions of the 56th Ukrainian army’s brigade, which is a violation of the truce.

The representative also pointed out that the observers of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (OSCE SMM) to Ukraine registered Ukrainian army’s weaponry near the contact line. In Druzhkovka town, the military of the 35th Navy Brigade hid five Grad multiple launch rocket systems. Two APC-60 armored personnel carriers of the 53rd Brigade were registered in Karlovka village.

The Ukrainian troops violated the border of the separation of forces near Petrovskoye village, and OSCE SMM observers found two of the 56th Brigade’s military personnel on former Ukrainian army’s positions.

On October 11, observers of the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination registered one violation of the ceasefire by the 56th Brigade, which fired three anti-tank missiles on the new terminal of the former Donetsk airport from its positions in Opytnoye village.

On October 13-14 it was planned to hold a meeting of Trilateral contact group to once again try to discuss the problem of peaceful settlement of civil war between Ukraine and Donbass.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada members blocked the implementation of political solution to the conflict, and on July 15, 2020, they decided to ban local elections on the territory of the republics. On October 3, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed the adherence to the policy of refusing to implement Minsk agreements.
