Kurginyan: Lukashenko has been reminded that Belarus can’t stand up to the West on its own

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko forgot that small Belarus cannot stand up to the West on its own, but events reminded him of this, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on August 23 in the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Soloviev broadcast on the Russian One channel.

“Now about Lukashenko – what he is good at. He built a proper and good Belarus. He is very good at everything he has done. He really put things in order,” the political scientist explained. According to Kurginyan, the Belarusian leader combined certain features of the Soviet ideology and the Soviet economy with an up to date market.

“He did everything well except one thing. He forgot, he forgot for a moment, and one should not do it even for a moment, that little Belarus will not hold up against the West,” the political scientist said. He explained that all his remarkable achievements become nothing when he separates and builds a hamlet – nothing good can be built in a separate hamlet.

The political scientist noted that before the elections, Lukashenko had forgotten this not for a moment, but for a long time. But events reminded him about this. “They reminded him that it is possible to build an ideal hamlet – and to be hanged on an ideal tree, above an ideal garden square, on which he will trim everything inideally. There he will be hanged from a tree branch. That’s how it ends up with hamlets,” Kurginyan explained.

“They often tell me, ‘What is going on there in Russia? There are many bad things there, it is much better in Lukashenko’s [country].’ Yes, dear friends, we have many bad things here. But first of all, you should join us with dignity so that we would accept you with respect, in an ideal way for you. And then let us fix everything together,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement appealed.

Otherwise, Kurginyan concluded, “everyone will hang on different branches of different trees: Lukashenko and his team, and Belarus will become a part of either Lithuania or a Polish-Lithuanian state.”
