Trump explains decision not to strike against Iran over downed drone

22.06.2019, Washington.

US President Donald Trump called off the military action against Iran because of reluctance to deal a disproportionate strike to the Islamic Republic over the downed US drone. He made the statement on June 21 on his Twitter page.

“On Monday they shot down an unmanned drone flying in International Waters. We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights when I asked, how many will die,” noted the US president, adding the response one of the generals, “150 people.”

“10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not… proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone. I am in no hurry,” he added, stressing that, at the moment, the US Military is reequipped and prepared, and that sanctions have a more damaging effect, “Iran can NEVER have Nuclear Weapons, not against the USA, and not against the WORLD!”

Earlier, Iranian media published pictures of the allegedly downed US Global Hawk drone, which entered Iranian airspace. It is noteworthy that US officials initially denied the loss of the drone.
