Painting masterpieces, the works of Aivazovsky, Shishkin, and Serebryakova, have been exhibited in the Republican Donetsk Museum of Art. The exhibition was opened on August 25th. It is dedicated to the Day of Donetsk city – August 27.
Dozens of admirers of Russian art saw the paintings of the world-famous painters in the early hours of exhibition. Due to the war in Donbass, the paintings were kept in the storage facilities of the museum, the Deputy Director of the museum Marina Tretyakova noted.
“Ivan Shishkin’s, Ivan Aivazovsky’s, and Zinaida Serebryakova’s paintings were the first ones, which have been extracted from the storerooms and exhibited today. A total of 13 works are included in the exhibition. And each of the master’s work is the gem of the museum’s collection,” she said.
According to the museum staff, many of the existing paintings were bought from the heirs of the painters and received from the private collections in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Tretyakov Gallery and State Russian Museum provided significant assistance in this process.
