Kurginyan: Fascism is essentially anti-Christian

29.09.2026, Moscow.

Having taken the path of combating heroism, the Western culture predictably proceeds to de-Christianization, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on September 18 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.

The political scientist noted that in the second half of the 20th century, fearing fascism, the Western culture began to combat heroism.

“And if Christians think that de-heroification can take place without de-Christianization, then they are strange people. I want to say this to everyone who can hear me,” the philosopher stressed.

Kurginyan told about a conversation he had in mid 1980s with a Communist Party committee secretary of the “Chemistry and Life” journal. He had to apologize before a Party commission that pigs drawn on the cover of one of the journal’s issues looked like the Politburo members. He was punished with a severe reprimand but not excluded from in the Party.

Then this secretary came drunk to complain to Kurginyan. “He came to me and he said that he did not care about the moral code of the builder of communism and all this party bullshit, that he was an underground Christian, and that his actual article of faith was the Sermon on the Mount,” the political scientist told.

However, when Kurginyan asked this underground Christian whether his faith included Calvary, i.e. Christ’s sacrifice, he “looked at me, and with incredible fury he said, ‘No’. With incredible fury!” the political scientist shared.

According to the philosopher, Christianity is a great doctrine in which a monotheistic God has a son who becomes man and sacrifices himself for the people. He stressed that Christ’s death and resurrection cannot be compared to the dying and reviving polytheistic agrarian cults because it was a deliberate sacrifice for the people.

“Then he takes them out of the Hell. And all the generations of revolutionaries will say, ‘We will go to our brothers and take them out of the Hell,’” the political scientist reminded.

Then Christ says, “compassion and justice will dominate in life, and the last shall be first, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God,” the philosopher listed the key ideas of Christianity.

“What a novelty it contains, and ascendance of Man, and, forgive me this, what a real humanism,” Kurginyan stressed.

The philosopher indicated that certain groups feel infinite hatred to these values. “Of course, fascism is anti-Christian, no matter what it tells about itself,” the political scientist said.

Kurginyan reminded that fascism is essentially gnostic, i.e. it denies “what Christ established as the irrevocable divine principle: the unity of species Homo sapiens, the unity of mankind.”

Gnostics have challenged these values as they divide humanity into pneumatics, i.e. genuine humans, psychics, i.e. semi-humans having no spirit, and hylics, i.e. essentially animals having neither spirit nor soul, the philosopher explained.

“Thus, a long-term gnostic transformation of the West begins. And Ukraine is only its first explosion that must initiate everything else,” the political scientist said.
