The first batch of M1A1 Abrams tanks from Australia was received by the army of the Kiev regime, the Australian Ministry of Defense press service reported on July 19.
“Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s government continues to strongly support Ukraine by transferring the first batch of M1A1 Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian armed forces,” the statement said.
The size of the first batch is not specified, but it is claimed that most of the promised tanks have arrived.
Canberra has promised to transfer a total of 49 tanks to Kiev. The cost of the tanks is estimated at $245 million.
Since 2022, Australia has provided $1.5 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
