Poland will support Serbia on its path to EU membership, stated Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić following his meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, RTS wrote on October 24.
Vučić emphasized that Poland is an important economic partner for Serbia, noting that trade between the two countries amounted to more than 2 billion euros in 2023.
“We expect that this figure will be even higher in the coming months. Poland is currently ranked seventh, eighth, or ninth as an economic partner… Ten years ago, they were in 27th place,” Vučić said.
The Serbian President added that both Tusk and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about new prospects for Serbia’s accession to the European Union.
Tusk expressed his support for regional cooperation, the “Open Balkans” initiative, and the Berlin Process, highlighting the importance of relations with Serbia.
“Poland will soon take over the EU presidency, and close cooperation with Serbia will be my priority,” Tusk emphasized.
