Maduro claims Musk spent over $1 billion on unrest in Venezuela

15.10.2024, Caracas.

Billionaire Elon Musk has spent at least one billion dollars to sponsor unrest in Venezuela, said Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on October 14 on the television program With Maduro +.

“Elon Musk invested in a coup d’état, a fascist rebellion, and violence against the electoral process in Venezuela, spending no less than one billion dollars,” the politician stated.

Presidential elections were held in the country on July 28, with the incumbent President Maduro declared the winner. On July 29, protests erupted in the country, with demonstrators clashing with the police.

The European Union and the United States did not recognize the election results and declared the opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez the winner. In September, Gonzalez left Venezuela after officially acknowledging his defeat in the elections.
