Indonesia to strengthen its defense capabilities with Turkey’s help

Indonesia will strengthen its defense capabilities by acquiring frigate-type warships from Turkey for its Navy, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy Admiral Muhammad Ali told Antara on September 30.

According to him, Indonesia needs more military ships due to its extensive territorial waters. Admiral Ali stated that the Turkish frigates will arrive in Indonesia in about one and a half to two years.

In August 2024, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler expressed hope that Turkey and Indonesia would conduct more joint military exercises and emphasized that Turkish-Indonesian cooperation in the military sphere and defense industry is currently strengthening.
