Venezuela’s Armed Forces reaffirm their loyalty to President Maduro

07.08.2024, Caracas.

Venezuela’s army is loyal to President Nicolas Maduro, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said during the celebration of the bicentennial of the Battle of Junin, TeleSUR informed on August 6.

The defense minister called for resilience and love for the homeland in the current conditions, as the country is subjected to aggression orchestrated by the United States.

In a joint statement with the Interior Ministry, Padrino rejected a statement released the previous day in which former Venezuelan presidential candidate Edmundo Gonzalez attempted to proclaim himself “president-elect.”

Padrino said the opposition’s statement was signed by those who had previously spoken out in favor of military intervention in Venezuela and demanded tougher sanctions against the country. He called the group a “rebel faction” that has manipulated and deceived the country’s population.

The minister condemned the acts of vandalism, as well as attacks on police and soldiers committed by these groups, and assured that the crimes would not go unpunished. Padrino declared unity within the country’s armed forces and that these forces guarantee peace and order in Venezuela.
