Maduro threatens to transfer oil and gas extraction rights to BRICS countries

Venezuela may transfer the already signed permits for the development of the country’s oil and gas fields to BRICS countries, stated President Nicolás Maduro during a press conference on August 3.

“If all these people in the north and their partners worldwide make the mistake of their lives, then all [extraction rights – Rossa Primavera News Agency] for oil and gas fields that have already been signed will go to our BRICS allies. Because no one can stop Venezuela,” Maduro said.

The Venezuelan leader considers BRICS a gigantic and safe market for Venezuelan producers, with good prices established.

“The largest investments in the oil and gas sector that we currently have come from BRICS,” stated Nicolás Maduro.

On July 28, presidential elections were held in Venezuela, after which the National Electoral Council of the country proclaimed Nicolás Maduro the winner. However, the next day, those dissatisfied with the election results took to protests, leading to clashes between police and demonstrators, attacks on police stations, looting, and acts of vandalism.
