Orban speaks against block confrontation and in favor of developing relations with China

08.07.2024, Beijing.

Budapest is using its EU presidency to promote EU-China relations, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on July 8.

Orban emphasized that Hungary opposes “narrow-mindedness” and bloc confrontation, preferring to strengthen cooperation with China. He assured Xi Jinping that Budapest is ready to use its EU presidency as an opportunity to actively promote the healthy development of EU-China relations.

The Beijing meeting was a continuation of a “peace mission” that Orban began with a visit to Kiev on July 2 and continued with a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on July 6, followed by his visits to Azerbaijan and, most recently, to China.
