In the current situation, navy is vulnerable to robotic systems, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist, philosopher and theater director Sergey Kurginyan said on February 20 in his original broadcast Destiny.
The political scientist noted that in the situation with the Russian navy there are many unacceptable issues that have to be overcome. He stressed the right position of experts who urge to a number of measures, e.g. to use balloons to monitor the situation in the sea. However, Kurginyan pointed out the strategic aspect.
“The strategic aspect of the situation is that the navy in general, not only the Russian navy, is now in an absolutely new military situation that we are watching, and the situation is now unprecedentedly new, and it is extremely vulnerable. Extremely!” the leader of Essence of Time said.
Stressing again the need to ensure better defense of the navy, Sergey Kurginyan turned to the issue of naval vulnerability in its historic aspect. He noted that heavy large ships are extremely expensive, and only the wealthiest countries, i.e. sea powers, can build them.
“All the rest either have to be vulnerable to the power of these countries in the sea or search for alternatives. And these have always been searched for: the great powers built, say, battleships, while those who had to combat them built destroyers and torpedoes that could totally destroy the battleships,” the political scientist outlines the naval balance of forces.
Kurginyan noted that when later the sea powers (first Britain, then the USA) began to build carriers, hypersonic missiles appeared in response as well as boats that could carry systems that can destroy a carrier. The political scientist also reminded that even earlier, during World War Two, submarines appeared, which were much cheaper than battleships, but which sank battleships.
“This confrontation has been going, I think, up to two centuries. And it is part of the well-known confrontation between the armor and the shell,” the leader of Essence of Time explained, and he added that today this confrontation has spiraled to an absolutely new level, because a combination of marine, aerial, ground, and submarine robotic systems has appeared in the naval science.
