Units of the Russian army group Zapad defeated a company of Ukrainian infantry near Olshany (Kupyansk direction) and advanced in this area deep into the defense of the Ukrainian armed units on August 7, said the head of the press center of the army group Colonel Sergei Zybinsky.
Zybinsky said that the offensive of assault groups of the Russian 6th army in the Kupyansk direction. In particular, the units “supported by tank fire, artillery and strikes by army aviation advanced deep into the enemy’s defense near the Olshany village.”
At the same time, they captured seven Ukrainian strongholds, nine observation posts and “defeated up to a company of infantry from the 14th separate mechanized brigade” of the Ukrainian armed units.
The Ukrainian military attempted to counterattack four times but had no success. All their attacks were repulsed. The Ukrainian armed units suffered losses during these actions – up to a platoon of their soldiers and a UK APC Spartan were destroyed. Two Ukrainian soldiers were taken prisoner by Russian soldiers.
