The tasks of the second stage of the special operation of the Russian Armed Forces may include not only the neutralization of the Ukrainian army’s grouping in Donbass, but also the liberation of southern Ukraine, including taking control of the seaports of Ochakov and Odessa, the Essence of Time editorial reads.
“At last the goals of the second stage are clearly articulated. From the economic point of view, Ukraine, deprived of access to seaports, through which the lion’s share of foreign trade goes, is much less valuable to its Western partners.
Militarily, such a maneuver will force the Ukrainian army either to activate reserves in the south, where they can be easily neutralized, or to weaken the Donbass grouping, which is already at its limits.”
As reported by Rossa Primavera News Agency, Deputy Commander of the Central Military District troops Rustam Minnekayev said on April 22 that the Russian army plans to establish full control over Donbass and southern Ukraine during the second stage of the special operation.
According to Minnekayev, such a strategy will provide Russia with a land corridor to Crimea, as well as access to Transnistria, where “there are facts of oppression of the Russian-speaking population.”
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine in response to an appeal for assistance from the Donbass republics.
The Russian armed forces are conducting the operation together with the DPR and LPR People’s Militias. The purpose of the special operation in Ukraine is to save civilians from the genocide unleashed by the Kiev regime.
