The world is moving towards a “great and imminent escalation,” which is due to the US loss of leadership caused by the development of China, and events such as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2021) change nothing strategically, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan stated on June 4 on the Topic program of the Union TV channel.
The political scientist commented on the SPIEF-2021, which was held in St. Petersburg on June 2-5.
“So, on the one hand, this is a useful pragmatic event. On the other hand, it is like a business card: ‘Look how they are talking to us.’ The third side is that it’s a sort of a consolation prize for our ‘integrationists’ (supporters of Russia integrating into the West – note by Rossa Primavera News Agency). The fourth side is it’s an event in the lead up to the Putin-Biden meeting, when everything has to be softened… for the sake of the meeting to take place,” he noted.
According to Kurginyan, forums like this “don’t change anything strategically, in essence“. The world process is taking its course. “China is developing inexorably, and the primacy of the United States is winding down just as inexorably,” the political scientist said.
“Just as Britain’s power could not be allowed to wind down before World War I,” the United States cannot afford to give up world leadership. The loss of the first place in the world would deprive them of the money “printing press”, which is the uncontrollable emission of the dollar as the global currency.
“This does not mean that I believe there will be a war,” the analyst stressed. In his opinion, there will be “an escalation, a big one and an imminent one.”
In order to avoid a “hot” war, it is necessary to escalate the “cold” war, believes the leader of Essence of Time.
“To prevent a war, it would be necessary to notice it [the escalation] in time and draw conclusions: systemic, big ones. Then maybe we would can hold back the outpouring of the hot confrontational substance by increasing some of this cold confrontational substance,” Sergey Kurginyan summed up.
The 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held on June 2-5. This year it was attended by 13 thousand participants. About 800 deals worth totally of 3.8 trillion rubles were concluded.
