Military tensions on Ukraine’s eastern border are escalating by the day, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on April 22 on the Topic program on the Donetsk Union TV channel.
According to the media, the situation is only getting worse. “Ukraine is amassing its forces against Donbass. Every day we get more and more evidence of this,” said the expert.
In this situation, Russia has no choice but to reinforce its military capabilities in the Crimea and on the border with Donbass, explained Sergey Kurginyan. He added that Kremlin has no other solution because Kiev is mobilizing its army near the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (LPR and DPR).
The political scientist noted that more and more heavy military equipment such as “Pions” (self-propelled artillery system 2S7), “Acacia” (152-mm self-propelled artillery), “Tochki-U” (missile system) are being pulled up to the border of the Russia-friendly LPR and DPR.
The expert stressed that the parties negotiate on everyday basis perfectly understanding what is really happening on the ground.
However, the dialogue does not help to ease the tensions. “Is there any normalization of the dangerous situation provoked by the West and Ukraine on LDPR borders? No, it is being aggravated,” added Kurginyan.
Events in Ukraine are closely related to the US policy towards Russia. Following the election of the US Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden as president, Russian-American relations have reached a tipping point. The trigger for the aggressive, anti-Russian policy of the United States and its satellites was Biden’s interview, when the head of the White House called the Russian President a killer.
