Contemporary transhumanists, due to their ignorance, cannot see how the idea of the transformation of Man evolved, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on August 7 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
“As for transhumanism and other things, this scope is much larger and dangerous, affecting both us and the world,” the political scientist noted.
He told that the first to use the word transhumanism was Dante who used it in his Divine Comedy to express the transformation of flesh, and not only flesh, during the ascension to Heaven.
Kurginyan noted that in this sense philosopher Roger Bacon, who searched for the elixir, can be called a transhumanist.
“The search for immortality produced an entire field called alchemy. And people misunderstand what alchemy is,” the leader of Essence of Time said, and he explained that in fact the alchemists were looking not for gold but for something else.
“This gold in an artificial language meant a new kind of flesh, a transfiguration. Alchemists believed that their methods would transform Man into something absolutely new having a new kind of flesh, mind, and all the other things,” he explained.
At the same time Sergey Kurginyan stressed that alchemical studies began not in the West, but they were practiced by taoists and hinduites, then they were adopted by the Sufis and the Islamic world and further by Christians, who then began to develop them themselves.
The political scientist also indicated that the transformation of Man was the dream of many scientists and thinkers: Nikolay Fyodorov, Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, Vladimir Vernadsky, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin etc.
“This is a great line that the contemporary transhumanists just cannot see. I have read enough of them, and I see that they are generally quite ignorant. And this is the key thing that makes them dangerous. There are many of them, they are very popular, and they exploit the contemporary ignorance,” Kurginyan stressed.
