The sharp rise in the approval rating of Polish President Nawrocki after the scandal surrounding the Order of the White Eagle shows that anti-Ukrainian sentiments in Polish society are growing, Rossa Primavera News Agency‘s Europe Desk notes.
A poll conducted by the IBRIS agency recorded a record approval rating for the country’s president. It stood at 54.8% – which is 0.4 percentage points higher than the previous record result of Szymon Hołownia.
The president’s trust rating increased by 8.4 percentage points in a month. The second politician in terms of rating growth rate over the month was the far-right politician Grzegorz Braun, who sharply criticizes Ukraine and opposes military aid to Kiev. His rating increased by 7.3 percentage points.
Such a sharp rise in approval for politicians who confront the Kiev regime indicates that understanding of the neo-Nazi essence of modern Ukraine is growing in Polish society.
Kiev itself is doing everything possible to achieve this. Deliberate appeals to the Banderites: the reburial of one of the leaders of the OUN (organization banned in Russia) Andrey Melnik, the assignment of the name “Heroes of the UPA” (organization banned in Russia) to a military unit – all this awakens Polish historical memory.
Poles remember that the attitude of the Banderites toward Poles is no better than toward “Muscovites,” and the understanding that Warsaw itself is actively participating in nurturing the heirs of those Banderites on its borders is gradually reaching Polish society.
