The West has waged war for centuries against enlightened Islam and uses radical Islamism as its weapon, philosopher, political scientist, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on March 20 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio station.
The philosopher recalled that in the Middle Ages the Islamic world was enlightened, while Europeans, compared to the Arabs, were barbarians. “What happened afterward to the great Islamic Enlightenment is one of the most complex questions in world history and cultural studies,” Kurginyan emphasized.
The political scientist noted that this process began to change around the 15th century. He stressed that the reasons of such decline in Islam deserve separate discussion.
“But they remember the greatness of Islam, and this is particularly true of Iran,” Kurginyan pointed out. He stated that calling Islam barbaric is blasphemous.
“Islam is a great religion in which these forces of enlightenment exist. But someone began to destroy these forces, to crack down on everything that was focused on a culture of enlightenment,” the philosopher emphasized.
As manifestations of this process, Kurginyan cited the struggle against “Sufi mausoleums, enlightened Islamic philosophy, and especially against a state which, while Islamic in spirit, is secular in form.”
“All of this began to be destroyed by a certain force called radical Islam, or Islamism, which was clearly backed by the West. The West developed the concept of radical Islam,” the political scientist stated.
“They pit it against all the enlightened forces in the Islamic world. It was they who forged this barbarian,” Kurginyan emphasized.
It was precisely the West that directed radical Islamist forces, the political scientist asserted. As an example, he cited the “Muslim Brotherhood” (organization banned in Russia). The philosopher noted that it was created under the supervision of Lord Cromer in the Suez Canal zone and emphasized that this is not a conspiracy theory, but a fact of world history.
