Western politicians do not think in a long-term manner, they only think about the coming elections, so they cannot resolve the Iran problem, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on March 6 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
Kurginyan reminded that, according to philosopher Alexandre Kojève’s theory, there are four kinds of power, and the last of them is the power of the master over the slave. It is based on the attitude to death, i.e. the master is not afraid if he has to die for the sake of his power, but the slave fears death.
The political scientist noted that it is not clear whether contemporary Americans are ready to follow this Kojève’s formula. “What is istishhad? It is a demonstration that we are not afraid. It does not mean ‘you are not afraid,’ it means ‘we are not afraid,’” the analyst said.
“Is Trump ready to bring 200 thousand Americans to Iran, of whom 10 thousand (a moderate estimate) or 20 thousand will die? Is he ready to draft the American to the army?” Sergey Kurginyan asked, and he answered, “He is not.”
He noted that Israel today is somewhat more prepared for such an effort, but it is a small country, and such casualties would be huge for it. In its current form, the Israeli army even failed to defeat HAMAS, a minor organization as compared to Iran.
“But suppose they expel the civilians. Where will you expel them? To Egypt. And what will be the consequences for Egypt? What will be the consequences for the world? What about radicalization of the whole Islam?” Sergey Kurginyan asked.
The political scientist indicated that this is a way to resolve the problem for a while, e.g. until the coming elections or for 10 years, but no one knows what will happen further. “They think about their elections, about the near future, and they do not think about anything else,” Kurginyan said about the US and Israel today.
