Kurginyan assesses situation in Iran after US and Israeli attacks

Iran was prepared for a military aggression, and the US failed to destabilize it, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on March 6 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.

According to the analyst, it does not seem that Iran’s system of governance was destroyed by the US and Israeli strikes.

“All of them prepared for this, all of them understood that they had to deal with bandits whom they had to fight back against as bandits, and so they gave such a response,” Sergey Kurginyan said.

“They destroyed similar facilities more successfully in Iraq. And what happened afterwards? Afterwards it was a shame. As soon as land forces entered there it became clear that it was a great shame. And they fled. What did they achieve in Iraq? Now a similar thing is taking place,” the political scientist said.

Sergey Kurginyan stressed that Iran is not Iraq, it is a much more serious country, and it is perfectly prepared for the current situation in terms of the organization of its command systems and related issues.

The political scientist also noted that actual nuclear weapons could appear in Iran within five days: everyone would say it was made but in fact it would be sold or given to them (e.g. by Pakistan).

“I feel that nuclear weapons are owned not only by the countries that officially have it. Or it will be there very shortly. When it comes to an aggression like this, all the countries understand that the only chance to have at least a minimal protection against a bandit is nuclear weapons. Thus, they will seek to have it, and its value will grow,” the analyst added.

Sergey Kurginyan also reminded that it was the US and Israel that helped Ruallah Khomeini to come to power as a result of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and it was them who overthrew the shah. He also noted that the US raised the Shia in Iraq against President Saddam Hussein. However, under Hussein Iraq had an authoritative government, in which the issue of the leader was ultimately important.

“But here [in Iran] this is not the case. This is a distributed system of governance, firstly, and secondly, it is totalitarian in a sense as the supreme power of Qom stands above the president or any other kind of power, just in case. This is the way their government is formed,” the analyst said.

On February 28, the US and Israel began air strikes against targets in Iran, including Tehran, destroying facilities and killing civilians. In response, Iran attacked Israeli territories and US air bases in the Middle East.
