The concept of a multipolar world is incompatible with the concept of the United Nations, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on February 20 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
“The United Nations is an organization established on the ruins of the Third Reich. Please note that it is not an organization of multiple poles. It is an organization of what? United. What? Nations. And this is also a concept that needs a definition. As long as the world remained habitual and not too dynamic, we did not pay too much attention to definitions,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
However, according to the analyst, time is coming when definition becomes a political factor.
“If this world is multipolar, but not one of nations, then an organization is needed that would be called ‘United Poles,’ UP. Because every time we talk about a pole it is about minor countries that find themselves under protection of major ones, putting it mildly,” the political scientist noted.
It also has to be clarified where the border is and what the “unattached to any of the poles” are.
Sergey Kurginyan stressed that the question is not whether the Global South is happy with the Chinese model.
“The point is that sooner or later the Chinese model will be based on the fact that there is China’s zone of influence. And because the world has gone away from that too far, China has become involved in Africa, in Latin America, and elsewhere, the same way as the US is involved. So, the question is when these poles will arise. Will it be good for minor countries, which will say that they do not want to be under a pole but they want to be part of United Nations, because they are a nation, not a pole? This will be a serious question,” the political scientist said.
According to Sergey Kurginyan, the concept of emerging poles requires serious clarifications whenever it becomes different from the unipolar or the bipolar model. And this concept flies in the face of the UN, the analyst noted.
“Diplomacy is a special science or art – I believe it is an art – and when one of the greatest artists of this craft, Maurice de Talleyrand, said that speech was given to man to conceal his thoughts he meant the diplomat. It is about special linguistics etc. Therefore, within this linguistics one can bang the table with his fist saying, ‘Multipolar world now, not American world!’ and ‘We campaign for priorities of the United Nations.’ But pole and nation [concepts] are scientifically incompatible!” the political scientist stressed.
