The Arctic region is an important component of the global great game, in which Russia is involved, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on February 6 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
The political scientist noted that American politician Stephen Bannon directly says that the great game of the 21st century is the Arctic. Kurginyan explained that Bannon is part of Trumpism.
“He was really close to him (Trump – Rossa Primavera News Agency), then they somewhat diverged, and still he remains close preparing to fight for Trump again,” the leader of Essence of Time said.
At the same time the political scientist stressed that in any event the Arctic is on the agenda, in Russia as well; in particular, the Russian leader Vladimir Putin discusses it, and in view of the coming 500th anniversary of the Northern Sea Route “more and more new actions begin.” Kurginyan also indicated that Russia is building new icebreaker ships. He stressed that Russia has a strong intention not to lose the Northern Sea Route.
“And because we are friends with the Chinese, the Chinese also enter the region. Also, there is the North-Western Route. And a small trade ship has already passed it, and it demonstrated that it was faster than through Panama. It also exists,” he added.
Sergey Kurginyan reminded that World War One began around the Berlin – Bagdad railway, which was a threat as Germany could have acquired some positions there. The political scientist explained that major wars are initiated around major transportation routes. He also indicated that a huge base with an underground city exists in Greenland, and “this is also war!”
“And this Northern Sea Route, North-Western Route etc. They are not only about icebreaker ships. It is also satellite support. Reportedly, these routes cannot be controlled without certain concentration of satellites,” the leader of Essence of Time noted.
“Thus, everything is entangling in a huge knot – historical, a technocrats’ dream about post-democracy, military transportation, and altogether it is Greenland!” he noted.
