Kurginyan: The US always needs to shed blood; the only question is whose

05.01.2026, Moscow.

There has never been a single leader in US history who has not wanted blood to be spilled, therefore all the Trump administration’s statements regarding peace look like unseemly, political scientist, philosopher, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on December 12 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.

The European Union is one of the US’s most powerful rivals. One of the US’s main goals is to prevent Europe from falling under Russian control, to prevent Russia and Europe from cooperating, since the United States would surely lose in this case. Germany has the technology, Russia has the natural resources, so Europe must be forced to fight Russia. For the United States, this war is safe; it is being fought overseas.

However, for this to happen, liberal Europe must change; radical right-wing political forces must come to power, militarizing the already significantly weakened and relaxed European population. To achieve this, the United States is breaking the Yalta Treaty’s rules by allowing the militarization of Germany and Japan.

“[US Vice President J.D.] Vance says it quite clearly: ‘We want an ultra-conservative Europe.’ This ultra-conservatism is also very relative. They are moderate by the standards of, say, the 1950s,” said Sergey Kurginyan.

He noted that the United States wants Europe to amass weapons, to militarize Europe, and to work with those in power who will proclaim “Drang nach Osten” (“Drive to the East”), not those who fear that a shell might whistle past.

In Japan, the United States wants the same militarization: supporting the radical right forces in the country. And thus, Russia will find itself surrounded by a new German Reich, a Japanese empire, and the Turkish Turan project.

Furthermore, according to him, the Chinese question arises. “Latin America must be under control of the United States, according to the Monroe Doctrine. But the Chinese are already everywhere!” They’re in Ecuador and Venezuela. They’re with the left and the right. They build ports, they finance everything. Should they be kicked out of there? And kicked out of Africa? And kicked out of Southeast Asia? And how will that happen? Will no one put up a fight, will there be peace?” said Sergey Kurginyan.

Therefore, the US administration’s constant statements about how much it wants to stop the bloodshed and reconcile the warring parties are nothing more than demagoguery.

There is no US leader who may want bloodshed to stop. The question is whose blood should be shed. This one, that one, or the other, Vietnamese, or someone elses. They always, they all want the bloodshed. And they are all very bloodthirsty. It’s their political genome. Therefore, demagoguery about stopping the bloodshed is ugly. Well, you see, first you have to put on a mask of sheep, bleat, and say you want peace. But when you’re a wolf, you look like a wolf and say, ‘I want peace. I don’t want bloodshed,’” the political scientist said.

According to the analyst, this spirit permeates everything in the United States. Sergey Kurginyan recalled that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has already stated what kind of army the United States will have, “I’m saying what everyone knows. He said that this army will smash everyone. Anyone who moves. He said it. And it’s claimed that the United States is engaged in the arms race.

Speaking on December 6, 2025 at the annual defense forum at the Ronald Reagan National Library in California, Pentagon Secretary Pete Hegseth emphasized his view on the current president’s commitment to strengthening the US armed forces.

“Make no mistake about it. President Trump is hell bent on maintaining and accelerating the most powerful military the world has ever seen, the most powerful, the most lethal and American made, the arsenal of freedom”, Hegseth said.
