Armenia, which initiated the destruction of the USSR through the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, must blame itself for its troubles; however, there are Azerbaijan and Turkey gathering the Great Turan, a construction that definitely cannot be friendly towards Russia, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on December 12 on the Conversation with a Sage program on Radio Zvezda.
The political scientist noted that he has the right to talk about Armenia, which in late 1980s began to demand the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous District (Russian: NKAO) to be transferred from the Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR) to the Armenian SSR, thus initiating the destruction of the Soviet Union. “I remember this: ‘Artsakh, miatsum, adjatum, strike, strike!’ I visited Karabakh when [Arkady] Volsky [the head of the Special Governance Committee of the NKAO] was our ‘proconsul’ there in late 1980s,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
“This was quite problematic itself. But it always felt as if there were some sort of national rise, a sacrificial love towards something. Whatever amount of evil it contained, it also had something good in it,” he added.
Besides, Nagorno-Karabakh, according to him, was more spiritually and morally decent than maternal Armenia. “But it [Armenia], having elected Pashinyan, betrayed it [Nagorno-Karabakh] in the meanest way possible,” the political scientist stressed.
“This mean betrayal has not been discussed enough. Armenia undermined arms supplies to Karabakh. It did everything to have a massacre there, to ensure that first a war starts there and then this war is lost,” Kurginyan explained.
According to him, Armenia elected a leader who had already become notorious as an Azerbaijani-Turkish agent. “Therefore, an Armenia that takes on that kind of a policy, an Armenia that wants to become a large shashlik or dolma grillroom, is doomed to a new genocide,” the analyst said.
“So let us put aside this [Armenian] card and pretend that it is gone. But the Russian-Turkish relations are there. And Azerbaijan is there. As well as the obvious gathering of some really major structure by the Turks,” he noted.
The political scientist posed a question whether this Turkish structure can be friendly towards Russia. “How can it be friendly? Let someone tell me. If it is the Great Turan, it includes Bashkiria, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, and much more. This is a very large structure reaching as far as Yakutia,” Kurginyan stressed.
Also, according to him, Turkey has certain relations with Japan. “Further, a concept of great Central Asia appears including Azerbaijan, i.e. Turkey,” he added.
“Thus, from all directions something is surrounding [Russia], which our diplomacy will hopefully keep from escalating to a direct conflict,” the analyst said.
According to him, no price can be too high for preventing the neighboring countries from an actual conflict with Russia, especially while the Ukrainian conflict is ongoing. However, an escalation of tension encouraged by the West is nevertheless taking place.
“Central Asia is to become a place of conflict between China, Turkey, and some radical Islamist forces. This is what is really taking place!” the political scientist stressed.
