Even if some kind of truce agreement with Ukraine was signed, Russia would not be left alone. Larger conflicts are already being prepared, in which Russia will be drawn, political scientist, philosopher, and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on November 28 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.
“No one will leave Russia and Russians alone; no one will let us live a normal life,” Kurginyan emphasized. There is a completely futile hope among some people in the Russian elites that if Russia “gives up its interests and cease to defend them,” it will be allowed to join the Western civilization. The sooner Russia gives up it interests, “the quicker they will finish Russia off,” the political scientist explained.
According to Kurginyan, no matter what document is signed, new hotbeds of tension are already being prepared on the southern and western directions.
“Russia can not get involved in several wars at the same time right now. Absolutely not. But they’ll be forced upon Russia. And they will force the situation in Transnistria upon Russia. What will Russia do when it is forced upon us? For now, the situation is steadily worthening in that region but smoothly, and Russia pretends that nothing happens. But what if the situation escalates? What will Russia do then? There are many Russians there. The Russian question is acute there, as is the question of a certain small town with much weapons at a certain military depot. Then they’ll fight Russia with these very weapons? Will we give these weapons up?” the political scientist asked.
Currently, Russia-US relations are undergoing constant maneuvering. US President Donald Trump is trying to portray himself as a peacemaker. “He starts to maneuver, and in the current situation we can’t refuse to do the same, and he understands this perfectly well. He maneuvers, we maneuver, everyone maneuvers… And, as a result, a collective insanity is emerging. But it can not last forever,” the political scientist noted.
Kurginyan explained that, overall, Russia is not attempting to disarm or reduce military production, but there’s a certain “group within the Russian elites, possessed by the idea of integration with the West and ready to bid everything on such an illusion”. This group is still quite strong and has not yet exhausted its influence. He cited the example of one such government official, “an influential man” and “with money,” who bluntly stated that “if Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] doesn’t succeed in Yuri Vladimirovich [Andropov’s] brilliant project of joining the West, then we should shoot ourselves in the head.” This is not the opinion of a hysterical person, but someone completely reasonable, the political scientist added.
“And Russia must prepare for war, for very significant changes, and for the acute feeling that we are one people with one historical destiny, and that we must fully embrace it and realize it,” Kurginyan emphasized.
He recalled that “the state is the means by which the people prolong and develop their historical destiny.” This, in turn, means Russia needs people – “not atomized petty bourgeois, but people.” Secondly, Russia needs a cause. “Then we need to be able to prolong and develop it,” Sergey Kurginyan explained .
“Then, within this vast, uncomfortable country, where prosperity is a myth, where the dream of having three hundred varieties of cheese (which, by the way, don’t exist) turns into a simple bread shortage; a unique, genuine, very happy life will emerge with multiple historical perspectives. And when it happens, everyone who would wish to attack this country will have to take three steps back. The emergence of such a life will become a weapon far more powerful than thermonuclear bomb,” the political scientist emphasized.
