US President Donald Trump, when he delivers ultimatums to India, is far from understanding that he is talking to a very ambitious country that feels itself on the rise, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on August 8 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.
“One must lack any understanding of the country at all to do what has been done. I love India very much. I feel revived inside when I visit it. It is absolutely full of life. Of course, it is absolutely different than Russia. It looks alike in some things, e.g. all those pretty groups of children in uniform who feel they have a future. A sort of a feeling of people who escaped from colonialism and who now develop,” Sergey Kurginyan explained.
The political scientist noted that high level of ambitions is India’s national distinctive feature today.
“[After the Indian] people, that used to have a deep interaction with the British Empire, leave the condition of colonial slavery, they, firstly, never leave it completely. Secondly, they swallow the British political culture inside themselves. And thirdly, having escaped, they become full of arrogance. This is a feeling that you are not a colony anymore, and that is not a sahib. It is fascination with the capabilities of your country. It is a sort of a desire to play with the powerful state muscles that you now have. It is an understanding that you are great and that you have a really great future,” Sergey Kurginyan stressed.
He noted that India manages to maintain the unity of its nation among huge instability with all its numerous languages and religions.
“In our country, a 10 thousand rally is a big problem. In India, they can say, ‘You know, the airport is closed today because of a small rally of two million people who protest against some dam because they think there is something wrong with it,’” the political scientist reminded.
He explained that in this situation it is absolutely impossible to talk to India “that is young, bright, highly ambitious due to its colonial past, feeling it is on the rise, and extremely complicated inside” using a language like “get down and listen to me.”
“One has to lose hold on reality to start talking like that,” Sergey Kurginyan pointed out Trump’s incorrect behavior.
The political scientist explained that India wants only one thing from the US, i.e. national development.
