The strengthening of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) aligns with the objective trends of the era and the needs of its member states, said Chinese President Xi Jinping on July 15 during a meeting with the foreign ministers of SCO member countries.
“Over the past 24 years, we have continued to adhere to the ‘Shanghai Spirit,’ constantly strengthening the organization’s position,” the politician emphasized.
He stated that the SCO’s growing influence on the international stage is very much in line with the times and meets the needs of all parties involved. Among the organization’s top priorities, Xi listed the maintenance of good-neighborly relations, as well as the ensuring of security and stability.
He stressed that the opening session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of SCO member states in Tianjin offers an opportunity to implement the consensus reached at the highest level. This, he said, is necessary for the organization’s development and the advancement of multifaceted cooperation within its framework.
