Iran’s Supreme Leader declares relations with Russia and China a priority

15.04.2025, Tehran.

Strengthening friendly and business ties and continuing cooperation with China and Russia are declared as priority directions of Iran’s foreign policy, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said on April 15 to Tasnim news agency.

He explained in particular that “priority of [Iranian foreign policy] is to establish economic relations with countries such as China and Russia,” since, in Khamenei’s view, “these countries are economic centers in Asia.”

The Iranian leader emphasized the complexity of such cooperation but noted that it is entirely achievable “with proper diligence and the right tactics.”

Khamenei also highlighted that Iran’s Foreign Ministry is actively working to establish and strengthen relations with neighboring countries, which is reflected in a significant increase in visits by high-ranking Iranian politicians to neighboring states and in the improvement of the country’s image in the international community.
