12.04.2025, Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called space exploration and the use of space systems a field of the highest global competition on April 12, according to his press service.

The president made the statement as part of his congratulatory message to employees and veterans of the rocket and space industry on Cosmonautics Day.

He emphasized that Russia must constantly move forward in order to maintain leading positions in the field of space exploration. The industry should do this in cooperation with business, science, and research centers.

It is necessary to increase satellite production, implement modern component bases, new materials, digital and nuclear technologies. It is also important to develop advanced manned spacecraft and launch vehicles, the president stressed.

Cosmonautics Day is celebrated on April 12 in honor of the anniversary of the first human flight into space. This flight was carried out by Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin in 1961.
