Kiev wants trained foreign soldiers, not peacekeepers

26.03.2025, Kiev.

Ukraine wants to receive on its territory foreign militaries capable of fighting rather than conventional peacekeepers, the deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Igor Zhovkva, told France-Presse agency on March 26.

Ukraine needs foreign soldiers who are ready to fight and defend themselves, not ordinary peacekeepers, Zhovkva said.

At the same time, Kiev recognizes that there will be no foreign servicemen on the front line, the deputy head of the Ukrainian office stressed.

Earlier, the Times of Great Britain, citing a source in military circles, wrote about the desire of European states to send to Ukraine more than 10 thousand peacekeepers, mainly from France and the UK.

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service warned that such an initiative would actually lead to the occupation of Ukraine, while the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitriy Peskov, pointed out that the issue of peacekeepers requires the consent of the parties.
