Russia will not turn its back on China and Iran, with which it has long built relations, for the sake of a dubious rapprochement with the United States, political scientist, philosopher and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on February 21 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.
The political scientist believes that the elite that has come to power in the USA, led by Donald Trump, is trying to “seduce” Russia, assuming that “the girl is so impressionable, we’ll say some compliments to her, she’ll be excited, give herself to us and send clients called China, and certainly North Korea, Iran and so on to hell.”
“Does anyone believe that? And more importantly, is it that easy? Is it that easy to make friends with China and then send it the hell away? First and foremost, Xi Jinping himself says, ‘Let’s be friends with the USA.’ That’s why Russia cannot give up all this negotiation nonsense, because everyone wants [to negotiate with the USA]: the Saudis want to, and Russia depends on them for oil prices; China wants to, everyone there wants to. Maybe North Korea doesn’t quite want it. And it is not clear with Iran with its semi-liberal presidents,” Kurginyan explained.
According to Kurginyan, Russia looks at such situation with appropriate skepticism and understands that they are not quite reliable friends, but at least there are some friends. On the other hand, there are already more Chinese cars in Moscow than others, Russian oil goes there, and Russia gets electronics from there.
“Is Russia going to change all this for four years? And then back to the way it was in four years? Any of the Russian diplomats, foreign policy officials, whatever their values are, and however much they want something – they know how such tricks with the People’s Republic of China will end up. That these are bad jokes. And with Iran, by the way, too,” the expert concluded.
