Von der Leyen demands militarization of Europe

02.03.2025, London.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called for the urgent militarization of Europe on March 2, following a meeting of European leaders in London.

“All Europeans must invest in defense and ensure a breakthrough in the military industry,” she stated. To achieve this, EU regulations and standards – overseen by the European Commission – will be adjusted.

Von der Leyen promised that once these changes are implemented, national governments will be able to increase their defense investments significantly.
